Location: Leeds
Salary: £42,180 – £53,820 per annum
Shift Pattern: Days or Nights available | 5 days out of 7 | 12-hour shifts
Day Shift: 6:00am – 6:00pm
Night Shift: 6:00pm – 6:00am
Overtime: Paid at 125% after 45 hours per week
About the Role
Winner Recruitment are recruiting for experienced Mechanical Fitters to join our client’s busy operations in Leeds. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled maintenance professionals to join a fast-paced industrial environment, ensuring plant and machinery operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.
There are opportunities available on both day and night shifts, offering flexibility for candidates looking for a preferred working pattern.
You will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across a range of fixed plant equipment. Working closely with the Engineering and Operations teams, you will play a key role in maximising equipment reliability, improving performance, and reducing downtime.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on fixed plant machinery and mechanical equipment.

Inspect, service, and repair conveyors, shredders, balers, and associated plant systems.

Diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs efficiently to minimise production downtime.

Respond promptly to breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements.

Support scheduled maintenance programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist with the installation, commissioning, and testing of new equipment.

Work closely with Engineering and Operations teams to improve plant reliability and performance.

Identify opportunities to improve equipment efficiency and reduce recurring faults.

Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with health, safety, and environmental procedures.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, including inspections, repairs, and parts used.

Help maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment.
What We’re Looking For

Previous experience in mechanical maintenance, plant maintenance, engineering, or a similar hands-on role.

Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.

Good knowledge of fixed plant machinery and industrial equipment.

Experience working with conveyors, shredders, balers, or similar equipment is desirable.

Ability to work safely within a busy operational environment.

Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Reliable, proactive, and flexible approach to work.

Commitment to maintaining high health, safety, and environmental standards.

A relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Maintenance, or a related discipline is advantageous.

Experience within waste management, recycling, manufacturing, quarrying, aggregates, or other heavy industrial environments would be beneficial.
