YARD SHUNTERS – NIGHT SHIFT ONLY

Location: Coventry, CV8 3EE
Shift: Night shifts only
Pay: £20.00 per hour
Including holiday pay: £22.41 per hour
Experience: Previous shunting experience required

We are currently recruiting experienced Yard Shunters to join our team in Coventry. This is a night-shift-only position for reliable, safety-conscious drivers who are confident manoeuvring HGVs around a busy yard.

The Role

As a Yard Shunter, your main responsibility will be to safely move and position trailers and vehicles around the depot, ensuring the yard operates efficiently throughout the night.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely shunt HGV trailers and vehicles around the yard.
• Move trailers between loading bays, parking areas and designated locations.
• Couple and uncouple trailers safely when required.
• Carry out vehicle and trailer checks before moving vehicles.
• Follow site traffic management procedures and yard instructions.
• Ensure vehicles are correctly positioned and ready for loading/unloading.
• Communicate effectively with the transport and warehouse teams.
• Maintain high standards of safety at all times.
• Report any vehicle defects, damage or safety concerns immediately.
• Keep the yard organised and operate efficiently during the night shift.

Requirements

• Previous Yard Shunter experience is essential.
• Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) licence.
• Good understanding of trailer movements and yard operations.
• Experience coupling and uncoupling trailers.
• Good reversing and manoeuvring skills.
• Strong awareness of vehicle and pedestrian safety.
• Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts.
• Good communication skills.
• Willingness to follow company/site procedures.
• Right to work in the UK.

Pay & Shift

£20.00 per hour
£22.41 per hour including holiday pay
