Winner Recruitment are currently supporting a manufacturing and distribution company based in Tysley Birmingham, with the recruitment of their Technical Manager

My client is one of the largest suppliers into the food and hospitality sector across the UK and Europe and have been established over 50 years.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure full compliance with my client’s customer’s requirements and company’s legal obligations. You will be required to ensure consistent quality of production, incoming goods, ensuring procedures and specifications are followed.

The main duties of the Technical Manager will include:

  • Management of the QA & Compliance team and deputise when necessary
  • Deputising for QA & Compliance Manager
  • Assisting in internal audits
  • Active member of HACCP team, team lead for suitable qualified person.
  • Assisting in 2nd and 3rd party audits when required
  • Responding to customer requests
  • Technical testing as required in both the QA laboratory and warehouse
  • Liaising with suppliers, customers and colleagues at all levels
  • Use of Quick Base and standard computer packages
  • Assisting in improvements to the QMS
  • Recording of results and report writing
  • Assisting in Initial supplier approval and maintaining the approval system
  • Encouraging and developing GMP across all areas and being part of the drive for constant improvement

The ideal Technical Manager will have:

  • The ability to communicate effectively
  • To be accurate and detailed
  • Proven track record of team management
  • Experience of Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Experience in SAP would be an advantage
  • The ability to plan and prioritise workload
  • The ability to work alone but also to be a team player
  • At least level 2 HACCP
  • Experience of managing and supervising staff
  • Understanding of BRC Food Packaging Standard
  • Working against procedures and specifications
  • Experience of BRC; ISO:9001: ISO:14001.
  • Knowledge of FSC/PEFC would be an advantage
  • Experience of 2nd and 3rd Party audits

Hours of work are Monday – Friday 9am – 5.30pm

Salary for this role will be circa £30,000 depending on experience
