Winner Recruitment are currently supporting a housing company with the recruitment of their Support Worker. You will be covering the Erdington, Great Barr and Kingstanding areas. This role will be supporting at risk, homeless and vulnerable adults, some with complex needs, mental health and recovering from substance misuse.

You will be supporting a number of individuals, the long tern goal is to prepare them for independent living.

The duties of the Support Worker will include:

• Carry out initial assessment of potential clients including any risks of his or her needs

• Engage with each individual and carry out a detailed and effective support plan which will be tailored to the clients risks and needs to support them in an independent future

• Required evidence of support will be reviewed and inspected on a weekly basis by a Quality officers. – Full training will be provided

• Ensure all clients adhere to the responsibilities of their tenancy and the service of my client

• Maintain contact on a regular basis with client in accordance with the requirements of the service

• Ensure the environment of the client is well maintained, clean, tidy and assessed for any fire, health and safety risks – Fire safety logs will be kept, updated and reviewed on a monthly basis by Senior Support worker

• Promote the integration of the client into the local community

• Provide support and assistance to each individual achieving their personal goals

• Guide and support each client in daily living tasks helping them develop the skills needed for a more secure and independent future

• Engage with each client and support with basic welfare benefits advice, including speaking with advisors and other agencies to ensure client is in receipt of his or hers benefits at all times

• Complete basic household maintenance checks – i.e. operation of heating, lighting and general household appliances

• Adhere to all safeguarding, health and safety policies and procedures and comply with statuary duties and maintain confidentiality at all times

• Engage fully with your senior support worker, line manager and quality control officer

The ideal Support Worker will have:

• An understanding of working in supported services with proven knowledge of supporting customers, housing, welfare system and other related legislation

• Ability to deliver high quality, structured and time limited interventions that have a lasting impact on customers lives

• Experience of managing complex and difficult situations in relation to vulnerable client groups

• Ability to effectively liaise with a range of service providers or agencies to establish or improve services for customers

• An understanding of delivering high quality customer focused customer led services

• Ability to be self-motivating, work under pressure and manage time effectively

• Ability to work flexibly, including working evenings and weekends to meet the needs of customers

• NVQ level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care or relevant qualification (or working towards)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Enhanced DBS check required

 

The hours of work are Monday – Friday 8 hours per day, flexible to the needs of your client

Salary for this role is circa £22,000 depending on experience
