Job Description:


Winner Recruitment are recruiting for a Senior Claims Handler to join a specialist operations and digital solutions business based in Birmingham City Centre. This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a successful company based in the heart of Birmingham, where you will be working in the hustle and bustle of the UKs second biggest city to provide a fast and efficient and accurate claims handling service to the highest of standards for various insurers.


My client works with organisations in highly regulated markets, they help clients improve service, grow and win business. They specialise in a 3 areas including claims solutions, insurance services and customer solutions.


The liability adjuster’s role entails dealing with third party impact damage claims where property has been damaged by a motorist. The successful candidate will have experience of validating property damage claims but be able to appreciate that these are third party property claims where an indemnity settlement should be achieved.


Also, there will be an element of dealing with outside investigation of Casualty claims and also Overseeing junior members of the team.


Duties and responsibilities:


  • Communicate with the third party via telephone, email and post in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Negotiating skills
  • Appoint contractors and update claims on internal systems and make appropriate decisions on validation.
  • Manage personal allocation of claims, post and diary work in a timely and efficient manner
  • Handle claims in line with client specifications and the appropriate service standards while providing a high level of customer care
  • Authorise payments to claimants and supplies for settlement within an agreed delegated authority
  • Actively adhere to and promote the principles of treating customers fairly (TCF) and operate within Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) guidelines
  • All employees are expected to carry out any reasonable instruction given by their senior manager, in line with business requirements


Skills & Experience


  • 5 GCSE’s grade A – C including Maths and English
  • Willingness to work toward CILA qualification
  • IT Literate including basic understanding of word and excel
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Negotiating skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines whilst prioritising work load
  • Must be able to work under pressure and on own initiative within the delegated authority.
  • The role will be ideal for a candidate who has experience in the liability field and is looking to broaden his/her horizons.


Salary for this role is £31.000 - £40.000 Depending on experience


Hours are Monday – Friday 35 hours per week
